Google update Jan/17 - causing system ui restarts/reboots

Just a heads up as this has been driving me mad for a week.

Symptoms - system UI crashes / phone restarts.

It probably only affects older phones, so if your system is behaving itself, then leave it alone.

I have an oldish Elephone P7000, and in the last week or so (corresponding to when I manually updated every app on my phone), it started rebooting a minute or so after the screen went to sleep.

After a while it would stop and i'd need to remove the battery to restart it.

I cleared caches, uninstalled apps, eventually performed a system wipe of the internal phone memory and SD card and factory reset (to custom Aerom V5 firmware I had which was very stable).

Anyways, the potential suspect now is a google update on Jan 20th 2017, which I only updated manually last week. ( no auto-updates )

Google pushed out a silent update on Jan 20, 2017 apparently, although I may have got it later.
Only really started hitting me when I manually updated early this week/last week.

But I don't think you need any apps as such.

    Attempted fix:

    1. Go into the Google Playstore.
    2. Find the 'Google' app (just called 'Google', by 'Google Inc.')
    3. Select 'Uninstall updates'
    4. Then use phones bottom left menu key and a dialog box 'Auto-update' will appear, uncheck it.

Now the app 'Google App' does not appear in my phones Settings --> Apps list.

    Fingers crossed this solves it.

But if anyone has any more info/solutions, would gladly be corrected.

Edit: Just got a reboot here... so may not be the full solution :(

    regards,
    CD

Quick update: Nothing worked for me except reflashing the Elephone P7000 phone with the Aerom V5 ( I had previously installed ), and wiping the cache and dalvik cache.

So far, seems okay. No UI restarts/reboots, when they typically happened every 10-20 mins.

    regards,
