Still in a lot of pain

    Hi

    So I had a molar removed a week ago after the tooth chipped and filling fell out. This has obviously left a large wound in my mouth but I am still in a lot of pain a week later, I'm actually being driven demented with the constant pain😕

    I know it will be suggested to go back to my dentist but the thing is, I am terrified to go back! I am an extremely nervous patient and the tooth extraction was traumatic enough!

    Can I just go to my GP to get antibiotics instead of going back to the dentist?

    Go back to your dentist,
    It is either;
    post op pain
    dry socket
    infection

    Only your dentist can tell this...

    Dentists may not agree with this, but anyway...

    As much as I'm scared of the dentist, I won't be doing that Esel! Glad it worked for you though.

    When I wrote my OP I was wrecked from a painful sleepless night but today it has actually felt a bit better, not 100% but I don't think it's enough to keep me up tonight thankfully.
    I have a day off on Friday and if it's not any better tomorrow il go back to my dentist.

    The needle didn't hurt at all, tbh. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

    I know you mean well but please don't encourage anyone to do this.

    I went back to my dentist today as I was awake half the night in agony again.

    Turns out it's dry socket, she washed it out and put dressing in and gave me a prescription for antibiotics to use if things don't start improving in the next few days.
