Any possibility of a short term wireless router?

    Hi all

I'm moving into an apartment in Dublin city centre for about a month, but it doesn't have WiFi. I'm in the middle of some moving between countries, so I (stupidly) haven't done as much research as I should have, and just called into a store yesterday and asked about getting some short term connection.

So - I got a short-term Virgin Media Hub. The apartment I'm moving to was not listed in the address database, but most other apartments in the complex are, and the order went through. The apartment does have a coax cable, but I cannot access its source point.

Anyhow, long story short, the Virgin router is not working. It is flashing away as if for setup for the last two hours, and there's no broadband connection. I'll get onto Virgin in the morning once they're online, but, if this won't work, I'm wondering what my alternatives are. Either a wireless router I guess, or if there is some PAYG mobile phone option where I can tether, or anything else. I would need something in the apartment full time as a base so that I could remote when out, and it's getting kind of tight because I would need this by Thursday evening.

Ah - moving is just wall-to-wall fun... Any suggestions are really appreciated.

    RE Virgin

Old inactive points often require them to reconnect the tap (they used to disconnect it to remove the old analogue TV service). This means a tech has to come out.

    The model is:
    - They give you a modem for self install
    - You try it
    - If it fails, they book an appointment

Virgins appointments tend to be quicker than OpenEirs but I wouldnt be surprised if Friday is the earliest.

    RE Others

    Three is the best bet.
    - Buy a PAYG *PHONE* SIM (€20/mo, all you can eat data)
    - Buy a cheap Mifi device from the likes of Cex

It wont be fast, but no contract, no limits, 2 minute setup time, portable.
