Gaming PC build (~600eur)

Hello everyone,
Would greatly appreciate if you guys could help me organize this build (if you could also recommend a trustworthy retailer for parts would be great)

1. What is your budget? [€600-€700]

2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? [Gaming]

3. Do you need a copy of Windows? [No]

4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? [No]

5. Do you need a monitor? [No]

5b. If no, what resolution is your current monitor and do you plan to upgrade in the near future? [1366x768] [No]

6. Do you need any of these peripherals? [Wireless Card]

7. Are you willing to try overclocking? [What would you recommend?]

8. How can you pay? [Visa, PayPal]

9. When are you purchasing? [ASAP]

10. If you need help building it, where are you based? [I can Build it (I think)]


Games I'd like to play would be along the lines of FPS's like Squad, Arma3 (realistic ones)
Open world games like Mafia, GTA, The Witcher
And strategy like Total War series.

Most importantly I'd like the computer to be able to run Android Studio smoothly.

Lastly I'd like it to be as small as possible (unless it interferes with future upgrade opportunity).

I would consider paying someone from Galway for help and assembly.

Yeah it's March 2nd for the 8/16's afaik. A bit later for the rest. Late March I think.

The cheapest quad core R3 4/4 1100 will be around €130 with cheap matx boards coming in around €70-100. About €60 for 8gb DDR4.

So about €260 for the core parts. You won't need a great graphics card at that monitor resolution. An RX460 or 470 should do the trick. I'd go for the 470 so you can turn up anti aliasing a bit. You will need it at that res. I'd recommend getting a 1080p monitor later on.

The price difference to me seems unreal, now in fairness I have no experience but seems it will deliver good performance for being so much cheaper. Seems to be worthy to wait, unfortunately for my inner shopper lol

That's the previous architecture, "Bulldozer".
Power-hungry, under-performing & outdated.

Shops are clearing inventory.

Hey guys, what budget would I have to be looking at to include ryzen 7 for a build? Because if I understand correctly Ryzen 5 will be out in Q2 and that might end up being a bit too long of a wait ...

That would be more comparable price wise to building a current Intel i7 based machine. If you're looking to up the budget, I think the absolute first thing you need to do is allow for a new 24/27" 1080P monitor - virtutally any half decent CPU/GPU combination will be bottle necked at such a low resolution which would be a waste of a good PC.

I would just wait for Ryzen 3 or 5 to be released. Purely for games, Ryzen 7 will be a waste unless you need the PC for heavy workloads and/or you're also committed to buying a very high-end, €450+ graphics card - and even then, the Ryzen 5 will be more than enough for even enthusiast level PC's, being a 6 core, 12 thread processor (current i7 is 4 core 8 thread by comparison).

Ryzen 7 as an 8 core, 16 thread is aimed at those who use their machines for productivity or a mix of productivity and gaming.

If you're sticking with the current monitor an Intel G4560, B350, 8GB DDR4, SSD and GTX1050 based build for around €450 right now is more than enough for those games at high/ultra and you can upgrade to a cheap i7/newer card/better monitor later as you want.

Should be fine, you have a 2core/4thread CPU & 8Gb RAM
