Hi guys, my solo2 is on the blink, turned it on 2 nights ago and im getting Hw error on the display, Box was not being flashed or worked on at the time. there was a usb stick stuck in the front usb port with movis on it but that there most of the time and has no images on it.
I had vix installed on it for the past few years and this is my first problem with the box.
Reciever was bought from swordssatellite.ie on sept 2013 and is a genuine vu product, I checked the receiver with that 'show the love' checksite and compared the box with the clone pics online and the box is def not a clone, I don't think clones of the solo2 were about then anyway.
I have tried to flash the original vu images but no luck along with early vix and blackhole images but no joy.
The receiver goes through the motions of flashing an image , finished comes up on the display and it gives an 8 sec countdown to restart,i then remove the usb stick and when it starts up it is says installing fpga, and after a while reading the usb (which is not plugged in by the way)writing and eventually 'Hwerror' displays on the vfd.
I have tried different usb sticks formatted to fat32 but no joy, I think it goosed but if anyone has any idead they might post a reply here, cheers,

thanks for the reply, I had a good browse around the usual sites and have tried a lot of different images but no joy, I have ordered a vu+zero just to get me back on the road, I have a humax 1100s which is handy but Im used to the vu sets, my solo 2 as well as my old ultimo along with my new zero were all orignals , wouldn't waste my time on a clone . cheers

@minterno contact vu+ direct swords satellites never sold clones so your ok .

Ask them to send you vu+ solo2 original fpga upgrade files & pdf guide .

There contacts details and there for uk vu+ http://vuplus.co.uk/home/

This is one of the advantages of buy original box once upgraded you will be able to use all the latest images and you will kick yourself for not contacting them sooner.:)

Yes there were plenty of Solo2 clones (Sunray/Lonrisun) .

Show the Love plugin was bypassed a long time ago.

Both Clone and Original boxes can show HW Error message.

If the box is an original cutting the power for a few minutes and turning it back on normally solves the issue.

Where its a clone box, cutting the power will not clear the issue.

Disconnect it from the mains, take the top of the box.

One way to rule out that its not caused by having a clone box is to try and load another old image like VTi 6.0.0 or Blackhole 2.0.7. If they flash, then your problem is that the box is a clone. Make sure you use a decent flash key.

If it is a clone, you will then have to find where the clone safe ferrari boys hang out these days. They have clone safe boxes images i.e. ones they have patched for versions of chips. On the Vu Uno's the anti cloning could be bypassed by replacing the tuner module with an real tuner module.

If the boxes chip has been killed by anti cloning you may have to jtag it.

as I said, its 100% not a clone, Its very easy to compare all the clone vs genuine pics, I have done so and every picture of the original, from the motherboard to the back of the box ie the mass of vent holes in the center of the fan area, the pictures of the original box and the clone box everything checks out,, I got an old vix image to work on it but I cant connect to the receiver by my pc(Flash fxp) and so cant move any setting across to it, at the moment its a basic fta receiver.
My vu+zero arrived today and that's up and running on the latest vix and aside of the fact that an internal hard drive cant be used I find it a great little box, once booted its almost as responsive as the solo2.
heres some pics of my solo2, it looks the same as the pics of the genuine recievers and none of the clones had magnets to close the door on the cam slot,

will give it a rest for a few days and might have a look at it again, cheers
