Given that as far as I can see, he is attempting nato relations by posing with the slovenian pm?

Because he likes to cosy up to the little people, while putting the noses out of joint on the big people.

We should defend our way of life to an extent that any attempt on it is crushed, so that any adversary will never make such an attempt in the future.

Technically they only flew into Irish controlled airspace they didn't fly into our Sovereign airspace ,
It's all postering from putin trying to show russia is a superpower ,when in fact there a regional power with nuclear weapons

It's interesting that NATO which never has a problem destroying countries and removing governments that aren't subservient is finding this "regional" power a tough nut to crack!
If anyone can explain to me why Russia would even bother coming near our insignificant island please do.

It's because they can. In reality they have need to, but they perceive that NATO is getting too close to their borders, and want show that they can still project some power when they need to.

Ireland has no aerial capability so we are nothing to him. He is messing with the Brits.

He likes to step right up the line and he'll cross it if he isn't stopped.

See previous example, when British Eurofighters intercepted Russian bombers.

It's the equivalent of the school bully walking right up to a smaller boy's face in an attempt to dominate.

    Also note previous Turkish response.

He has no interest in joining NATO. NATO is there because of the likes of him.
