Out of curiosity, any idea what the shift allowances and overtime are like? Do all new entrants start at the bottom of the payscale? My salary would be double that at the moment.

Then don't even consider this job if u are on double the money .

All new entrants start at the bottom

Ah well, money isn't anything, but starting at the bottom is a no-go. Shame.

So you want to change career to something new and not be at the bottom? Good luck with that.

Nah, I expected to start at the bottom, I meant the whole idea was a no-go as the bottom salary was too low. I'd more been wondering if overtime or allowances topped it up at all.

There is plenty of overtime (Double time). You will also get shift allowance, Saturday + Sunday pay

What could you be expecting to clear with all that then at the beginning?

Ok so guys, everyone who is on the current emergency call taker panel, expression of interest went out on friday for 5x permanent post and 11x fixed purpose for contracts for 1 year only, the 11x makes no sense the panel needs to pull together for these to be made permanent also , its the same start date as the 5x permanent posts, please comment if your on this panel

I was talking to a friend on the panel this evening who mentioned about the above. Likely to be offered a temp position due to panel placement but currently in a long term permanent job.

She's wary of accepting a temp position in case it keeps getting renewed year after year or worse still let go. She's not sure if benefits are the same for temp e.g. pension or holidays ect, and also couldn't understand why they would offer 5 permanent and 11 temp, but I don't think anyone from the panel is going to have any push to change the offers to permanent unless no one accepts them, and even then they would probably just outsource the positions to CPL as usual and still get the positions filled as temp contracts either ways.
