A few years ago a group of us stayed in a bunk house style hostel near Killeshandra. None of us can remember what it was called, or where it is, and google is not coming up with anything. It had dorm type accommodation, with a couple of twin rooms I think, a big communal area with a kitchen, and nice grounds. I'm hoping someone in this forum will know the place and let me know its name.

    Thanks.

No, it was outside, we were doing something in Killykeen Forest, as I remember, it was about 15 minutes drive from there maybe

Doesn't ring any bells, unless you were up at Derreskit near Killegar. Was it run by a German?
Try Alan Kells at Castle Hamilton in Killeshandra, or Hans Locher.

There were a couple of fishing lodges near Milltown, but they were also owned by Germans and catered almost exclusively for German anglers.

I saw recently that The Breffni Arms in Arva has a "Hostel" sign outside.

Or if your feeling flush, Tom O'Dowds self catering on Trinity Island is something else.

It could well have been the hostel down at Ardlougher, not far from the Slieve Russell hotel.

After a bit of searching it was called the Sandville house hostel and heres some pictures of the place :
