    Hi all,
Just wondering has anyone had their interview recently for the April 2017 cohort? I have my interview next week and was just hoping to get some tips or sample questions.
    Thanks in advance.

I did my interview last year, and then deferred, but taking up my place this April.
First off I'd recommend arriving a little early, as they sometimes run fast on interviews. It's very casual, more of a chat from what I can remember and you can kind of angle the way the questions are going. As in if you have classroom experience and you mention it, they will ask more on that. Similarly if you mention n interest in music or sport, they will lean some of the questions that way.
Here we're the questions they asked me:

    Irish
Tell us a bit about yourself, for example where you studied before, where are you from/living, and about your work.
What do you get up to in your free time, have you any hobbies?
Tell us why you want to be a primary school teacher? And why study with Hibernia?
How did I prepare for the interview, especially the Irish element?
Tell us how you use IT in your current role, and how you might use it in every day lessons?
(this last one may be a specific to me, as I had mentioned I use IT in my current role, but you can kind of steer the conversation to topics you like)

    English
If you had a disruptive student, how would you deal with it? And if you had a weak student, how would you approach them and the parent?
They said I was clearly very motivated in everything I do, but would I actually be able to give up some of my work/hobbies to commit to this course?
Again, they asked about my use of IT, and had I experience using different software in the classroom? And what would I do with regards to teaching IT and internet safety?
They asked about my current role and experience, and how would I adapt to teaching kids. And also what age group would I like to teach and why?
(I currently work as an Adult tutor, so again some of these are a little bit aimed towards my current role)
It looks like loads, but it flew once I got started! Good luck!

You really will be fine, it's much more like a chat. When I got there it had been raining, and I had gotten soaked, so they actually made me tea 😂
If you can, tune in to an Irish radio station even just for the news and weather, it really helps bring back some of my grammar.

    Hi All,

I had my interview last summer for the September intake and unfortunately I was unsuccessful in the Irish interview.

They contacted me giving me the option to repeat the Irish interview only for the April intake in March 2017. (I do not have to repeat the English interview as I was successful in this)

So my Irish interview is in the coming week. I'm really nervous and I'm terrified that they will be harder on repeat Irish interviews because they know we failed it already. Has anyone any experience with this? If I fail this then I can't reapply for the next two years so the anxiety is hitting big time. A lot riding on 15 minutes.

Any feedback would be really appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Hi Amyfxo,

I don't know if you have your interview finished yet, but I just did mine, and I found it really nice. It was more of a conversation and very open. The examiner was a dote and she was interested in what my opinions. They asked me questions about where I'm from, about my work, about my degree, how I prepared for the interview, how I got there, the gaeltacht, how would I make Irish more fun in the classroom, do i prefer dublin or galway and why, what are the traits of a teacher and that was it really. They will make you feel very at ease in the interview.

    Hi Amyfxo,

Don't be nervous, it was tough but doable. Like if it's meant to be, it will be! Enjoy your holiday and when you come back you'll be ready. Best of luck!

So I am interested in applying for Hibernia to study a pme primary teaching and was wondering if anyone could give me some info such as
When does the course start in September. I am meant to be heading away for a weekend that month and the last thing i want to do is be the worst student ever and miss the first weekend class Also those who started the course in April does it run through the summer months or pick up in September.
