    Hi all

I'm looking for a second hand tractor. I have a budget of €30k. I was considering a NH TLA90. I was wondering if the NH TLA 80, NH TLA 90, NH TLA 100 are the same physical size with different size engines. I want a tractor between 80 and 100 hp but want a tractor that is tidy. I will be using the tractor for fertilizer, topping and slurry spreading. All advise welcome.

    Thanks

Same size and same cnh engine. I'd go tl100a route if doing slurry or agitator work.
The case version is very similar but may be easier on the pocket.
    Worth checking the UK too.

Is the case jxu100 or 105 similar to the tla100?

The jxu1100 would be same as the tl100a. The 1090 same as tl90a

    Thanks

Would it justify purchasing in Northern Ireland in sterling. If so what sort of price difference should I experience?

I purchased in the UK last year and saved a few thousand and got a much cleaner machine. Read somewhere recently that tractor imports are up 75% so that might not help buying in NI or UK.

Where in the UK did you purchase. How did you go about sourcing it ? Was it dealer or private and how much to transport it home.
Sorry for all the questions just hope to purchase myself late this year or next year

Purchased from Gmstephenson in Scarborough, dealer, £550 dropped outside the door. Didn't even go over to see it first :D (An English man can be trusted)
I'd advise to go the dealer route, the dealers over there tend not to have such a percentage hike over private sales like here.
Found dealer's to take the piss here tbh, upto 10k differences on a 20k tractor.

That's some coincidence as it's one of them or a 7635 I'd be interested in myself. Did it come with a loader ?
Would u mind PM me the year, price etc. if you don't mind.
    Thanks

From looking at prices over last few nights I'd suggest a price difference of about €5k or €6k. Would anyone agree with that figure? Buying local gives you more comfort or confidence than buying up north or in the U.K. but price difference looks a lot.

Very good website to search and compare ...

That sounds a massive difference in a €30k tractor. Are you factoring in Uk vat @ 20%? Most sterling ads prices on d/d do not include vat.

I have factored in 20% vat and used an exchange rate of £0.86. I might be a bit high on the difference. The local tractor I was comparing with was in stock for a while which possibly cost a few pounds more when imported. I have decided to purchase a case jxu 105 or a NH Tla100. If anyone spots a clean, low hours machine in the €30k price range please let me know.

    Thanks

What part of the country are you in ? €30k should get you a decent machine. This guy usually has 5 or 6 of those NH & Case tractors you are on about in stock. Usually imported, nicely presented, nearly bought off him 5 yrs ago.... was giving a 12 month guarantee with the tractor at the time. Asks enough, don't they all... might be worth a call?

The jxu100 is a different engine to that of the jxu1100 iirc. Worth checking that out. That dealer in Galway likes his paint. Have often passed there and often got parts of him, nice fella and all but could never understand why reasonably fresh tractors needed resprays. With most of his tractors with 2000-2800-3800 hrs I'm baffled.

I'm from the midlands. I have noticed his tractors are like new on donedeal. With less than 3k hours shouldn't be a need to spray. Always better to see the tractors in the flesh. Will give him a call.

    Thanks

I asked him about that at the time and to be fair he gave me the option of buying one that hadn't yet been painted. He said most lads are interested in buying a tidy machine, everything working, any bits that need to be done replaced etc etc. Basically a tidy up and a paint job costing €500 adds €1,500 to the asking price? Seems like most other dealers are doing something similar as well so there must be something to it.

On the other hand they could be worn out, tarted up, piles of crap painted to cover over the faults. Buyer beware !!

Suppose it's a bit the craic that goes on most weekends in pubs & night clubs up and down the country......

Can't blame a seller for putting his best foot forward

Buy a ford 7740 sl and not sle because the sl is bomb proof , very reliable tractor and cheaper . You can give up to €25k for a good one with a loader . 4 cylinder turbo and light on diesel with 105 hp.
    The tractor will last years

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 113 ✭✭lstmd

I believe they were a good tractor. Would prefer to buy a newer machine.
