    Hi all,
I am Tatiana from Russia. I will be soon moving from Italy to Ireland with my husband, who has got a new job in Cork.
I have a Specialist Degree in Law (3+2 years), taken in Russia. I was wondering if my degree is valid in Ireland (it wasn't in Italy), and if negative what should I do to be able to use it in Ireland.
Do you have any info about it? Who should I contact?
    Thanks a lot!

It depends what you want to do with it really. An employer who just sees it as a tick box for applicants and does not actually have any legal requirements for certification may have no issue with it. There definitely will some employers who would do business in Russia and have a use for a Russian speaking legally qualified person.

It would not qualify you as a lawyer here (https://www.lawsociety.ie/Public/Foreign-Lawyers/Cert-of-Eligibility/)

    Hi, thanks for your answer.
What am I looking for? Suitable employment. I don't want to work as a solicitor, but as you are saying there may be opportunities as legal advisor or similar. Should I take some course in Irish law, what do you think? Maybe a FETAC certificate geared toward Legal Administration?
Is Cork a place where I can find a job in this sector?

Only solicitors or barristers can give legal advice.

Youd cannot think that you can give legal advice here. I certainly wouldnt give legal advice in russia.

A degree is common in ireland. Itd only allow you entry level admin roles. Do you have a valid work visa ?

You could do the KI diploma and the the BL - three years to get a very nice qualification and then look at working in the civil service or with a company that needs legal advice in both jurisdictions. Issue is massive cost and tough going.

A friend of mine works for Irish immigration with a degree and practice from an African common law country.

PT degree or iilex course could be an option.
