Sanity check quote for boiler installation

I have a quote for a boiler replacement and related works, in north Wicklow.

The contractor was recommended to me and I think I trust him to do a good job.

The job is to supply and fit a Grant Vortex Boiler House 15-26 (50-90) oil boiler, 17 TRVs and new lockshields, 2 thermostats and programmer for 2-zone heating + independent hot water controls, new flue liner for chimney, new insulated 36" cylinder.

The install is in a "boiler house" with its own external door which is attached to my ~225sqm house. The flue install will require knocking a new hole in the chimney as it needs to be a bit higher up than the hole used to vent the existing boiler.

It replaces existing system original fit mid-1980s which is total rag order (inoperable timer and thermostats).

    Price: €5200 excl. VAT.

The boiler itself costs a bit over a grand. I'm guessing the rest of the parts are a few hundred.

    Is this about right?

So nearly 6 grand? Sounds a lot of for what your getting. €2500 would buy a lot of the material. Is he using a balanced flexi flue up through chimney as this could be expensive. Has he to do some re-routing of pipework to create the two zones?

17 TRV = 17 Radiators, so I would perfer the next size boler up 90-120

Not ben able to see job, price is on the top end of the scale, but not by to much.
    Material €2550

Simple mistake, getting price of boiler and thinking everything else is small change.! !

    Get 3 quotes.
