The Forestry Department of University College Dubin kindly invites you to participate in our survey!

The survey is titled FastForests and is about forest management practices and their acceptability to forest users. It takes approximately 17 minutes to answer and your answers will help us inform forest policy recommendations! Also you can win a copy of the book 'Broadleaf forests of Ireland', which was recently published in a new, comprehensive edition.

To participate, please click on this link to FastForest Survey.

Please feel free to circulate the link to other people interested in forest recreation.
Thank you very much for taking part!

Worth doing and a book prize to be won :D

Done. A bit technical for someone who's not a forester but has an interest in trees and woods. Still very doable.

The ultimate purpose of debate is not to produce consensus. It's to promote critical thinking.

Did it but found the bias in the questions a bit too strong.

My guess is they are trying to show that Irish people don't like big blocks covered in sitka.

let's rephrase that to read " are trying to show that some Irish people don't like big blocks covered in sitka".
Over the last few days I've been planting a smallish site with mostly spruce and broadleaves where I can. many people walk he road and a good number engaged with me on the planting asking about species choice. When I brought them into the field and explained why it was planted with whatever, they understood the choice, and I explained that heavy thinning early and often might make for a more natural looking forest.
Give people the facts and they will understand what's going on and why.

Also trying to show I think:

"that some Irish people do not like the clearfell policy and all it entails", as a forest management system.

I wonder how productive natural regeneration compares to clearfell and re-planting?

That's a good point, would have to include selective felling and planting in that question too.
