    Ouch 628 grand.

How do OCI make money? Other than touting tickets...where do the funds they have come from?

IOC funding, Government funding and I would imagine there is a small portion coming from NGB memberships and spornsorship (not 100% certain on that)

Glad Sarah Keane got this job, has done a good job at Swim Ireland, steering that ship safely through some very turbulent seas!

Not sure why she'd want it exactly, what does the OCI really do apart from ferry a few athletes to an Olympic Games every couple of years, but happy the O'Byrne guy didn't get it anyway.

Saw this was released yesterday, good too see despite losing his place as OCI president (Congrats to Sarah Keane) Pat Hickey is still costing sport in this country

    http://www.independent.ie/sport/rio-2016-olympics/revealed-the-huge-costs-incurred-by-the-oci-as-a-result-of-rio-ticketing-controversy-35438579.html

For what it's worth here is a breakdown of what that money could do (given it's Athletics forum I am only dealing with it from that angle)

    - Cover 71% of Athletics overall funding from OCI for 2016
    - Fund for Women in sport given to athletics in 2016 x 15
    - Cover 19% of overall Athletics Olympic cycle funding for Rio
    - Cover 35% of 2016 Carded athletes (all sports) in 2016

What happened the concept of innocent until proven otherwise? Is an organisation not entitled and/or obliged to defend itself and its officers? Would your club or association throw its officers to the wolves and/or roll over and just agree to any charges laid whether valid or not ?

The Deloitte report was not to mount a defence, they were independent investigations which found the OCI severely lacking in meeting basic requirements under Hickey's tenure and subsequently recommended reducing term in office to prevent such misgivings happening in the future.

The Grant Thornton report on the ticketing is currently stalled due to an injunction from Hickey's legal team to prevent the findings being released.

Most of this money is not being spent trying prove innocence it is trying to prevent the truth from coming out.

I don't think the original post says anything about guilt? Pat Hickey has lost his place as OCI president and those are the costs involved in the scandal.

I heard Sarah Keane on the radio this morning saying that they need to do more for Athletes, hopefully that will be the case in the coming years. Good luck to her.

Where did anyone say he was guilty, the report just showed the cost of his arrest. Hopefully the OCI can reclaim these costs from which ever party is in the wrong.
