40 mm or 44 mm triple glazing?

My sister in law is due to start an extension shortly. She has the builder lined up etc. On my recommendation, she's having the windows and patio door supplied and installed directly by a window company.

She's had two reps call to her. One company does 40 mm triple glazing and the other uses 44 mm. Both are good companies using Rehau and Camden frames.

The prices difference isn't huge but she's anxious to have the best u value possible.

Is there a big difference between the 40 mm units and the 44 mm units? (All argon filled).

Don't know, Bryan. I was hoping someone might be able to indicate which might have a better u value potentially.

Solar value not an issue as extension is north facing.

I think what Bryan is getting at, is that the suppliers should be able to provide the info with regards u-value, solar factor and whether the windows are rated as a whole system rather than just the glass.

Only then can someone tell you what is the better unit.
