Just moved the main PC downstairs as the lodger has moved out and I'm staking claim to the study. This does mean the wife will possibly wish to stake a small claim to the PC. So I reinstalled windows 10 to make sure it was fast and nice for her to use, it was absolutely nothing to do with huge amounts of porn.

My question is display driver check, but are any other drivers needed these days? It's a budget Z97 board, nothing special on the LAN, on board sound isn't used (DP cable into the monitor and use the monitor speakers). Do I just leave it to windows update?

To double check you have all the drivers search for the motherboard name and drivers. Only go to the manufacturers page to download them. Other sites tend to have maleware attached to them.

I used to down load everything, but win10 seems to just chuck in the latest versions no?

    Thanks for the reply btw!

It does, along with all its other updates. Its a force of habit of mine to get the drivers installed before the updates. Mostly because in the old days there was no Ethernet driver to go online in the first place.

Aye, lol or USB or even a standard display driver. Loading - trying to use 640x480 to get started!

or using a floppy disk before you could get it to recognise the driver

On a more serious note, I have noticed that I get an nvidia update notification, but it doesn't appear with the windows update at the same time. Is there a time difference in manually installing drivers that anyone else has noticed. Could the drivers in windows be a version behind because of a delay?
