Meal feed amount to young stock

    have pedigree angus bulls--5 in total,are been wintered outside-just coming a year old...on silage-gd enough stuff, currently just getting a nut+ration of 3kg a day at mo! was go to up it-would it be a waste to add say 2kg of barley to it..or just up the feed amount at mo.. there doing ok-not spectacular.. but will progress gd when hit grass..plan ot dose very soon again

    Barley will make them put on fat as opposed to growing. I be of the opinion that if they are getting a ration/nut it would want to be in 18% protein. I be thinking more in the line of 750grams of soya bean meal and then 16% nut

    No not that I know of . While you may be able to buy it in 20 ton loads I do not think you can buy it in bulk 3ish ton loads. The reason is you would be a while using a ton of it. Unless mixing your own ration it would be unusual to be going over 1 kg/ head and even mixing your own over 2 would be unusual. So a ton would would do 40 cattle for 25 days. It will not store will and if any dampness in bin will go solid.

    You can, altho I had 24 tonne bought but got it delivered in 3 tonne loads last year

    I collect soya bean meal in bulk from the coop, bring out a 500kg in the meal bucket..

    feeding 0.5kg soya bean meal + 1.5kg nut this winter and very happy with the results so far

    Bulk, I just go in with a couple of blue barrels and line them up in front of the pile and he tips it in with the loading shovel. Any of the meal merchants should have it.
