Now and then I hand wash some clothes using Woolite.

Finished a bottle of it recently and went to buy another.

All I could find is a version with a very nasty scent ( at least thats all I could find in the multiples - Tesco, Dunnes, Supervalu )

Any suggestions where to buy the non scented original or on an alternative suitable for non machine wash ?

( Mods please move if this is not an appropriate forum for this topic . Thank You )

You could try liquid soap. Tesco do their own brand unscented version. Dr. Bronner's Castile soap comes in unscented and scented varities and is sometimes available in TKMaxx.

Personally life's too short to handwash and my washing machine has a decent 30C wool wash cycle with low spin and low agitation. I use the laundry bags to separate my jumpers and I've yet to have an overstretched/shrunk jumper.

If you're in a hard water area I find a capful of distilled white vinegar in the last rinse leaves wool soft and fluffy and it doesn't smell like a chipper once dry!

Yes indeed, its not exactly a favourite passtime

Never heard of Dr. Bronner's Castile soap before - will keep an eye out for it

Thanks for the tip about spirit vinegar

Do you know if the ( Tesco ) liquid soap makes lots of bubbles ( like soap ) or hardly any ( like woolite ) ?

Liquid soap doesn't make many bubbles. It smells quite alkaline but it washes out. You can buy boxes of soap flakes but then you have to dissolve them in hot water to make a solution and liquid soap avoids that issue.

I've used Tesco own brand handwash liquid as an alternative to Woolite. It has a pink cap and is scented but I find the scent not too overpowering and again once the garment is washed the smell fades once dry.
