Wood Preserver 1 Litre

Anyone know where to get this in the Dublin region, preferably Dublin 15.

Had a wasted trip to Woodies in Blanch on Sun evening and they only had Ronseal and Cuprinol in 5 litre cans for an extortionate €50.

Checked B&Q website and Cuprinol do a 1 litre can so went out to Liffey Valley on Mon evening and another wasted trip as they didn't have any in stock. Empty space with the price tag of €14 beside the 5 litre cans.

Not wasting any more trips/evenings today I phoned B&Q in Tallaght and even Naas and both were out of stock of the 1 litre tins. Neither Liffey Valley or Tallaght knew when they'd have it in stock and Naas made some fabled excuse saying it was too cold for wood preservative at present and they might have it back in March or April.

So anyone any ideas where to get 1 litre of wood preserver. Why is it so hard to get? Don't want to waste money on a 5 litre can for a small job and the can to be sitting in the shed indefinitely after.

You're looking in the wrong places, I bought a 5l tin of Protim in a builder's providers for €30 last week, I didn't price the smaller tins. If you bought the bigger tin perhaps you might know a friend or neighbour that might use the rest (and pay you something for it). I sold unused paint on Adverts.ie before, another option to consider. I'd rather cut off my right hand than give €50 to Woodies for preservative, shows you how much a premium they charge for convenience

A fair point but I’d initially tried the DIY retail chains in the expectation of receiving smaller DIY size portions and was willing to pay a premium per litre for the appropriate size and the convenience of their late opening hours. I’d have fully expected the builder providers to only stock wholesale size cans but not the convenience stores. Guess it’s looking like I’ll have to go the large size route as can’t waste any more time searching for a simple product. The range and stock of products in DIY stores and even builder providers in this country is very poor, a lot of effort to get black pvc waste connections lately as an example. Numerous other cases where the selection and price of products made it was so much more convenient to buy items online.

Agree with you there, online is the only way with some things, as an example I paid €20 for Evostik weatherproof adhesive in my local hardware, had I bought it online I could have got it for nearly €10, but I needed it in a hurry!

For any future hunters in time to come I sourced 1 litre cans of wood preserver in SuperMikes in Clonsilla, Dublin 15 this morning. Clear was 9.95 and fir green colour was 8.95.
