315D Christmas Party Nights At Dundalk H'cap
The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of U S Navy Seal (USA), ridden by J.A. Heffernan, and trained by J.R.Finn. Evidence was heard from the trainer and rider concerned. J.R. Finn, stated that he had taken charge of this animal about nine weeks ago as his connections in the U.K had lost hope with him. He added that the animal had lost his form in the U.K and was noted to have a high head carriage and to have back trouble. Consequently he was not hard on him at home and he had not worked him since his arrival at his premises. He informed the Stewards that this animal is treated on a weekly basis by a Chiropractor and may need a couple of days at ease after treatment. He advised that he had been easy on the animal and felt that he probably needed tonights run. J.A. Heffernan, stated that he was familiar with this animal as he had been trained in Ireland in his earlier days. He added that in his opinion that the trip was too short for him but he rode him on the inside berth and was niggling him into the straight. He thought that the horse had issues and showed a negative attitude when attempting to load into stalls. He informed the Stewards that this animal had previous isuues when in training and the best way forward was to under train him and not to bully him in a race. In his opinion he has run a very good and encouraging race and he was satisfied that he had ridden to the best of his ability and no better placing could have been achieved under any different tactic. The Stewards also received a report from the Turf Club Veterinary Officer who stated that U S Navy Seal (USA) was post race normal. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanations and took no further action.

Also interesting to see Chieftain's Choice out tomorrow in the first at Kempton having only the second run back after being given a holiday by the stewards.

Big fan of Rashan over a hurdle, but can the flat/aw lads tell me if they reckon he is just out for a spin/tune up in the 5.30 at Dundalk tomorrow?
8/1 has me sniffing around it like a Pisshead outside a kebab shop at 3am on a Saturday morning.

Can't imagine he's unfit because apparently they were seriously targeting the betfair hurdle until recently finding out his handicap mark, and that's on Saturday.

Two for tonight at Dundalk. 6.30 Keukenhof have been told is really fancied tonight. Also owners have had a bundle last night on complicit in the the 7.30. Was double figures last night not really worth backing now at 6/4 although should drift on course. Expected to win but short enough.

Strange given it's owners they'd back it last night for absolute pennies

They must be novices. Markets the night before have little liquidity and bookmakers react very quickly for small overnight bets. They should have waited until after noon today before putting cash down.

I'm taking an ew chance on Wellforth in the 3:30 at Bangor. His form is 1p3p2p. Likes the soft ground.
He is bottom weight and over 3mile 5f on soft ground that'll come into account. He is also proven over the distance. Huge price @ 50's.

Just look at Complicit in the 7.30 at Fundalk. Absolute gangsters. Running him over 5f the last few times. This time last year was rated 100+ tonight hes running off 68.

Absolutely infuriating it is, especially when some idiot takes out all the decent prices on betfair for about a fiver. Have had this happen to a gamble I knew about. Fool goes onto betfair before the bookies have prices up, took out all the money at 20's and 10's. Horse should have been about 33/1 on form, but bookies open at 8/1.

It's another busy night at Dundalk as the team are due to run seven horses.

Enemy Of The State (D O Connor) is a slow learner, but when the penny drops he will be a smart horse. I just gave him the one run late last year. He was very raw and ran very green before making good progress inside the last furlong to save all embarrassment and run pleasing enough. He has come on a lot for the run and I expect him to run a decent race tonight.

Brokopondo (D O Connor) is the stable star. He ran another cracking race last week when 4th. In total he has ran at Dundalk 13 times and finished in the top 4 on ten occasions. So although he is up against it at the weights these type of horses can out run their official ratings on their home territory.

Monrovia (K Lennord) is running in a race that does not suite and I hate running a horse over a long distance or even a distance that may suite in time on their first two runs. It is extremely important that inexperienced or young horses are hitting the line running rather than one paced or weakening at it.

Bainne (A O Brien) has been very buzzy and fresh at home and I have been running her over 5f & 6f to help her settle and breath. She seems to be getting better and I feel she is ready to step back up in trip. This will help her once the turf season starts as for obvious reasons she is a turf horse and not an allweather horse. If she keeps going the right way we may have a good turf season with her.

Complicit (D O Connor) is starting to do things right again and I was very pleased with the way he finished out his last race. It was the first time he hit the line running and showed his old enthusiasm. I feel he is ready to step back up in trip.

Eleuthera (R Coakley) is a nice horse but he is plagued with back trouble. He seems fine in his training at the moment but I'm always walking on egg shells with this guy.

Don't Have It Then ( S Kirrane) is a lovely little horse and reminds us of Brokopondo. It's his first run for me and although he is as fit as I can get him at home I suspect he will need the run. I will learn more about him tonight.

Two year olds coming off the hill after their first canter. A very nice Pivotal filly was turning a few heads..........

The aim is the 2m race on Good Friday in the UK. Think he needs 3 AW runs this year to get in

4 races in 2 months would be some achievement considering he has ran 4 times in the last 30 odd months. Must be hard to have a good horse thats so hard to get right.
