Anyone know the latest with opt in opt out for one off houses with regards to mortgages. I did read on here that some banks were insisting on opting in. Anyone know which banks?

Also would it be a case that they may look differently on this depending on the % of the build being sought for mortgage. For example if you needed 200k to build the house and you needed to borrow just 50k as apposed to say 150k?

Any other options for funding a new build other than a mortgage if you only needed a smaller amount?

    Thanks.

EBS, AIB and Ulster told me this week that I could opt out no problem as long as professionally registered architect or engineer sign off the building at each stage payment.
