VOAT - February 2017 - "The Gamble"

We seem to have some new traffic in the forum, so any interest in a VOAT? I haven't really written anything for a while so it'd be nice to blow off the cobwebs.

What is VOAT?

VOAT stands for Variations On A Theme. A short story competition (with no prize except the respect of your peers) that runs here from time to time. A theme, story outline, or opening line, is given for everyone to write about in their own style or with their own spin on the story. There is typically a word limit (1500 or 2000 words, maximum). There is a time limit (usually 5-7 days from the theme announcement). The stories are sent to one designated person (usually a CW mod). The stories are posted anonymously by that mod in a new thread and everyone can vote for their favourites.

Deadline: Thursday 16th at 23:59
Word Count: Up to 1,500

Send completed stories to me via PM before the deadline.

Cool. Since I instigated this, I'll post a theme tomorrow morning and we'll have until next Thursday at midnight to submit our stories.

Nooooooo I have to drop out. Showing my extra nerdy side but I have to write up a scenario - I'm Game Mastering an RPG adventure for a group of friends tomorrow and haven't done any work on that at all. EEp:eek:
