I don't know the exact answer.

Bear in mind that the main children's hospitals are public hospitals. Yes, I did see the programme about waiting lists and would go mad trying to get a child cared for. However, remember that the private hospital option may not always be as universally available across the specialities for children as it is for adults.

What are the likely main medical costs with a child in the early years ? Probably the more frequent visits to the G.P. !!! Some policies might give a good % back on that but the hospital plan focused ones give very little. BTW your unrecovered outlay for medical expenses for a child will be recoverable against income tax at a rate of 20%.

    Thanks NUTLEY BOY

Looking for 0 doc cover ...

The whole thing about med ins is speed to daignosis - speed to see a consultant.

    There are three lists AFAIK

    Cash / private reigns supreme
    Insurance
Public - bottom of the queue

We had an apt to a specialist cancelled on us and we are on the public.

It could happen on Med Ins as well, but Im wondering if it happened so often to Ins covered ppl and when it does are you quicker to get an another apt?

Do the public queues get hit first when there is over capacity in the clinics? Id imagine they are the most likeliest to get hit with a cancellation ....

You might get better information from http://www.askaboutmoney.com/forums/health-insurance-and-healthcare-costs.100/ where the thread deals specifically with health insurance questions.
