50 year old gay man in Cork

Dear Frankie. I probably should post this in the Cork forum but I reckon that it might be more appropriate here and I'd prefer to go unreg. I'm just wondering what are the options for a 50 year gay man on the social scene 2017. I've tried social groups like scuba-diving, hill walking etc but it hasn't worked for me. I'm honestly not interested in virtual meets with guys on Grindr, Gaydar etc as they haven't worked for me - plus I prefer the old-fashioned face-to-face meet. During my 40s there seemed to be more social outlets in pubs and clubs but not so much anymore. Should I resign myself to a continuation of The Late Late/ Graham Norton Show (or even cringe D'Arcy Show) over the weekend...

I agree with you that their appears to be no gay or gay friendly pubs besides Mangans which is for the younger crowd. I appreciate that lot's of pubs are gay friendly but I wonder are some more friendly than others...any ideas?

I ment to say Chambers Bar in my last reply...not sure why I said Mangans...maybe i'm giving away my age!

Thanks for the reply. Like it or not but ye're all going to be elder gays in the not too distant future - but hopefully ye will be in equal happy committed relationships. It seems to be all work and no play for this gay 50 year old. Any thoughts on where to socialise would be appreciated - or should I just take up knitting :) Not sure if Dublin is any different.. I'd honestly appreciate any feedback on experiences for the older gay in Dublin... (Daddi Dublin?) or elsewhere.
    Thanks.
