Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

Removal gas fire

    Anyone have any idea how much it might cost to remove an old gas fire (get it disconnected) dont want a fire would be happy just to have a box in the space and the gas closed off.
    I am guessing a gas fitter needed for this?
    Any recommendations in dublin much appreciated.

    Is there no isolation valve outside the fireplace ? (normally on one side of the chimney breast wall)

    €80. Got one in the kitchen taken out yesterday. Capped off below tile level.

    Its not just a case of turning off a valve and disconnecting a pipe.
    It needs to be sealed and pressure tested to ensure there are no leaks and certified as safe.
    Strictly a job for RGI.

    Thanks for all the advice folks much appreciated.
    I have been on contact with one guy who is a RGI.
    He has quoted me 140 to remove two gas fires and cap them off.
    I am guessing I would need someone totally different to box them off (he seems to think there is an open fire behind them).
    Does anyone know who I would get to do this piece of work?
