    Hi there,
There's been a cat hanging around my house lately.

I've given him food but he doesn't let me pet him, in fact he scraped me and drew blood once after I tried to pet him after I fed him.

There's a really nasty lump on his head and I think it's really bothering him.

please see photos. Has anyone any idea what it may be?

    Thanks

Can't see the pics but at a guess most often lumps as you described can be the result of an infected cat bite. Trip to the vet, flush it out with saline fluid and antibiotics is usually the treatment. Either way the Vet would be best placed to make a diagnosis.

If you could get him neutered/spayed at the same time it will reduce the risk of it happening again and of kittens appearing. if he can't be handled a local animal charity might be able to help you trap him with a specialised cat trap.

Yep, it looks like an abscess, though odd place for a bite, though they will try and grab where ever they can.

    As said, does need treatment.

Contact a local animal rescue as they may need to trap him if he's not too friendly. He can be neutered at the same time then and be released back with you. He'll be grand. (and if she's a girl, the neutering will be more important as you soon be overrun with kittens)

Good for you for feeding him!

Yes, well done for feeding him.
Where are you located? There are TNR groups around, who will Trap, Neuter and Release back to your yard, if you want to keep him. Its a very nice looking cat - well done for caring
