Is there a big event in Dublin City on the last weekend of February ? Seems like a lot of hotels are booked up or the price is very high. I can find a weekend away with flights to a European City for cheaper than a night in many Dublin City hotels. Can anyone recommend a good value search site ?

There is no such thing anymore - Dublin is short about 4,000 hotel rooms versus the capacity needed due to lack of construction and the fact that most low end hotels are block booked by the corpo for emergency accommodation. Prices are unlikely to fall until maybe a day or two beforehand if they fall at all.

Makes you wonder if the temporary 9% VAT rate on hotels is really necessary any more...
