    I didn't realize an Airbus will allow you to push the nose down past a safe envelope, is this a military thing maybe? I know C17 will allow to do a "tactical descent'' of 20000ft/min but then you really have to push the nose down and open reversers..

    I also didn't realize that a max rate of descent at 15000ft/min (taken from other resources) will glue you to the ceiling? I thought those zero-g flights "fall" at about same rate which only allows you float around for a bit, but doesn't pin you down. Strange reading anyway and leaves me wondering how much of that is true and how much of that is interpretation from the journalists side..

    Having had a quick scan of the reports linked above it seems the aircraft pitched down by 17 degrees with a decent rate of 15,800ft/min. The co-pilot had to re-enter the cockpit whilst experiencing weightlessness, before placing his feet on the cockpit roof in order to reach his sidestick!:eek:

    The aircraft lost 4,400ft in 27 seconds. Speed reached 358kts IAS and "g" loads ranged from -0.58 to +2.06.

    I found the details of the poor stowage and carriage of excess items in the cockpit interesting; hardy perennial, that one.

    oh my, very mixed feelings about the report.. on one hand, I feel sorry for the Cpt, on the other hand, what was he thinking.. could have ended in tragedy
