Buddy of mine is having serious issues with getting insurance on an Impreza, he can't get a quote from any insurance companies. Some don't like it cause it's over 20 years old, other don't like it cause it's a jap import and modified. Anyone have any recommendations of specialist insurance conpanies that might quote him?

Try the likes of Campion or other specialist crowds, but a 20 year old import impreza driven by a youngish male is practically uninsurable the way things are

How much is he willing to pay? I would imagine that the combination of jap import ,age of car and age of driver will make it very expensive .I would see that car costing a thirty year old in excess of 1000 euro to insure.

Depending on where they live it could easily pass the 2000 mark. The lowest quote I could get for a similar age(and type) Jap import was 1800 quid TPF&T. The most expensive quoted was over three and a half grand. And I'm 50, no points, NCB, driving since the mid 80's.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.
