I have just completed on buying a town house in a small town and will be repairing the roof and chimney then painting during spring. What i want to know, do i need a permit of some sort if i have scaffolding on the footpath or is there a free time limit of using scaffolding for small house repairs

    Public footpath?
If so, yes. You need a permit and suitable Public Liability insurance in place.
