I heard today that because of the bird flew there will be no game bird imports this year. Waiting for a call back from our pheasant man to confirm.
Did anyone hear anything like this or have more info.

It will all depends on how the current out break continues if it peters out quickly we should be ok for imports later in the year.
The problem is most of the bird providers no longer hatch their own eggs. Day old purchase seems to be the way the industry is going. A lot are buying day olds from France and what is the present update in France re bird flu?
The U.K shoots will have priority with British game farms which is fair enough. the loss of 11000 breeding birds in the UK recently wont help supply.
All these add up to at best dearer poults at worst no imports and shortage of supply in Ireland.
It is a waiting game(sorry) it seems.

Talking to our game supplier last night same as grassroot said. Bird flu active in winter months very rare for outbreaks in summer months they all get their dayolds from france if their was a outbreak in the area in france where they come from a compleat close down, very rare for this to happen but its our own goverement we have to worry about bringing in some silly ban.

Hy-fly had 65,000 additional birds culled after the first 11,000 - all breeding stock.

I'd say it would been no harm to leave it go for a year on year of bad sport would be better than infecting the hole place
