Saw solicitor in July. Still nothing...

Posting for my friend who saw a solicitor in July about drawing up a separation agreement for her. She has been in contact with him intermittently since to check the progress. Gets the usual "Will have a draft out to you this week" every so often. Today he told her he posted it two weeks ago. Obviously she didn't get anything. He said he'd email it immediately (at 10am this morning) and she still doesn't have it.

I think he hasn't even looked at her file in all that time. And is now slotting their names into whatever template he has. How long from your initial consultation with a solicitor should you realistically expect to have something on paper from him?

That's crazy, it took about 8 weeks for mine but I was in constant contact with the solicitor back and forth answering questions for them. I'd ake an appointment to meet the solicitor face to face

She got an email yesterday evening. As suspected it is a template. Nothing specific really on it just what would be a standard draft agreement with their names on the top. I think she's going to have to get tougher with him and chase him daily. From the time of agreeing to the draft his long before it should be sent to her husband? And how long after that before it's agreed and put in place?

Has your friend agreed a price with her solicitor? Bear in mind every phone call, email and letter from your friend to the solicitor could be charged for.
It seems to be a slow process for knows how long it's coming to drag out for her/him...put it to the solicitor to back up or feck off.
From what you posted the solicitor is not 'on record' and your friend could go to a different more pro active solicitor.

She got him through Legal Aid. He has promised her that he will send out a copy to her husband by the end of this week. All he has to do is take the "draft" watermark off it...

Anyway, at least now there's some movement.
