Newly painted gloss yellow blotches

    Hi,

I'm kicking myself a bit here and need some advice.

We have a set of wooden doors which we had painted with oil based gloss originally, it was going a bit yellow so I pulled out the heat gun removed the old paint and gave it a good sand.

I then painted over the dark wood with a dulox water based gloss but noticed light yellow blotches in places.

Have I made a right mess because I didn't give it an under coat ? Is there a way to correct this ? Or should I strip it all back and undercoat and then paint :/

    Any advice would be appreciated

I think you will have to strip the paint and start again, if the timber in the doors is iroko/teak check is there a specific primer to use with the water based paint, due to the high level of natural oil in the wood.

Sorry to hear about your predicament. Unfortunately you will have to sand it down undercoat and then topcoat to cover the door properly
