    Hi Guys,

Quick question, if I run with my dog 10k max on road and some grass, would you use any joint supplements? He is a German Shepherd. I would be running 3 times a week, I waited until he was 15months to start of slowly he is now 18months and I am gradually increasing the distance.

What do you feed him normally?

I would try to keep him off tarmac as much as possible, does he run in front pulling, or just jog along beside you? If he is pulling, he will be digging in more, so can do more damage to his joints and pads on a hard surface.

I run my dogs in harness in various disciplines and don't normally give any joint supplements, rather choosing a food that I hope gives them all the support they need, however I have used Joint Aid in the past, and have some friends that use it all the time for working sled dogs.

Have you checked out the sport of Canicross? Which is exactly what you're doing with your dog? Canicross Ireland put events on around the country, there is a race in Lough Boora, Co. offaly this Sunday. And the club also sends people to the European championships each year, this October they are being held in Italy, near Lake Como, we are expecting a lot of people to want to go :D
