I am currently in receipt of Job Seekers Benefit after being made redundant.

I got a letter in the post asking me to attend one of the hatches next week and the letter is signed by the manager of the welfare office.

Does anyone know why I would be getting this letter? It also has a declaration attached to say I am available for work and searching for work.

Any help Id appreciate, I fear any kind of official letters , reminds me of school :)

    Thanks a mil, Denise

Without going in to further details, does it not mention why in the letter itself?

My guess is they want a chat or proof of any jobs you've currently applied for or followed up with.

no only to attend one of the hatches. If I dont attend it could lead to suspension or cancellation in full of my claim

When was on JS Benefit I was asked to attend the SW office. If you have emails or whatever, where you applied for jobs, take them with you for evidence.

Don't worry. A lot of people wince when they get official letters. Just sign the declaration and when you go on the day bring any evidence you have of applying for jobs.
    Really don't worry at all.
