Anyone on here been to any BTCC events? I'm hoping to get to something this year but F1 is more or less out (dates don't work for others) and Le Mans is a bit iffy. BTCC is cheap, lots of racing and chance to see some cool tracks. Anyone been/know if there's much craic? :pac:

    Sorry, only seeing this now.

    +1 for the BTCC!

I've been to Silverstone, Croft, Knockhill and Donnington and even Mondello for the BTCC. All the experiences are good, there's plenty of opportunity to get up close and personal with the stars. Had good chats with John Cleland and Yvan Muller at Croft and Mondello respectively. The UK events are well organised on and off track. Getting in and out of the circuits are usually well planned and executed.

If I'm booking a race meeting in advance, I'll pay a bit extra for a grandstand seat simply because standing at the trackside soaking wet in swamp like conditions doesn't really float my boat. At the larger tracks like Brands and Donnington, some people watch from the infield and bring camping chairs and fishing tents for comfort and shelter.

Before the racing starts and during the half time intervals, some of the larger tracks might have a RAF fighter fly past or a parachute display or something of that ilk as entertainment

In terms of value and excitement, I think you get really good bang for your buck. One good BTCC race will have more entertainment than an entire F1 season :)
