Home carers tax credit claiming

    Hi all,
Looking to claim for the last 4 years.i work, wife doesnt, have 2 kids. I filled in all relevant info on revenue website, but the final step is "submit all changes". Which requires me to put in my 'pay and tax' for 2016, and usc, which i presume i get off my p60. Now what about the other 3yrs? Will i have to get old p60's for 2015/14/13 and if so where do i get old ones from?

The revenue site is a disaster for explaining things and forget about trying to contact them.

Any help would be much appreciated..

Forget 2016 for at least another month . concentrate on getting other 3 years sorted.
If payeanytime says that home carer tax credit may be available then you can go in and claim online .

if you have difficulty send message online through ''my enquiries ''

if you have high earnings ask them to give you whichever in more beneficial ( that is with or without the increased standard rate band )

See this from revenue website :
Where this tax credit is claimed the couple are not entitled to the increased standard rate band normally given to couples in a marriage or civil partnership where both spouses or civil partners are in receipt of income. If only one spouse or civil partner has income or the increased standard rate band is sufficient to cover the combined income of both spouses or civil partners then this issue doesn't arise. However if this is not the case then Revenue will award whichever is the more beneficial treatment.
The quickest and easiest way to claim this credit is using PAYE Services in myAccount.

I went to the 2014 year tab to claim and all it asked was for bank account details to pay money to, same for 2015 and 2013 , which was a lot more straigjt forward. Wondering why for 2016 did it ask for my salary and tax amounts? Maybe its something to do with what you said about waiting another month or so to claim for 2016?
The whole revenue site is not very helpful for anyone who does not know much about tax etc

you can give your bank details or click cancel . 2016 employer figures may not be filed yet so its best to sort out previous years first .

I was on to red oak and they have informed me that myself and my wife have been taxed together for 2016, eventhough she hasnt worked in 11 yrs..i presume weve been taxed together for the last number of yrs then too?
I took her tax credits 8 yrs ago when married.
Im wondering now how could we be taxed together if she hasnt worked and would we be due back any claims for this too?

    Thanks

Well if you wish to be taxed separately you can pay revenue several thousand a year you wish to be taxed separately rather than together.

Being jointly taxed means you can use her tax credits and cut offs.

Just received a a few p21 statements from revenue regarding the home carers allowance, one for each year claimed for.
As usual its all very complicated to look at but just wondering will i get the money claimed for as actual money refunded, as when claimimg they asked for bank account number? Or is the koney all just a tax credit adjustment?

    Thanks
