    Guys I need some advice here please.
    I booked this hostel for march 2nd to 5th for 8 of us. The hostel emailed me asking me to pay half up front. I said that was not stated when i was booking and refused. They said they needed to confirm the booking and asked me to pay 400 which I agreed and told them take it from my card I provided. They said they couldn't and to do a bank transfer and sent on bank details. Alarm bells were going off in my head and I said it to my housemates which 1 told me when he was booking a place in the Dam last summer he too had to pay by bank transfer. They had being emailing me off there email address from there website so I thought surely is legit. Did the transfer on the 24th of Jan. at which point I emailed them to confirm same. They told me it would take 5 days etc etc. I emailed them again yesterday as more than enough time had passed for it to go through and no reply. Same story with today.
    Has anyone had experience with this type of thing? Should I call my bank immediately?

    Scam I would think, in general never ever ever ever pay by bank transfer, always stick to the websites payment system to make the transaction. Your bank will likely tell you there's nothing they can do as it's a transfer and not a card transaction, no harm calling the to confirm this.

    What site did you originally contact the hostel from?
