That's not how a chromecast works, the data is not literally going from the phone to the device.

Your phone is basically a remote control for apps on the Chromecast, the apps themselves request the, say, stream from Netflix over your wifi router.

So, no, the connection between the phone and the chromecast won't use very much bandwidth, just enough to convey the messages to tell the Chromecast which app to launch, and what stream to request from the app server.

my mobile internet run out pretty quick after I got but that might be just a coincidence.

if I watch a film that's an hour long how much bandwidth would it use?

Are you using your phone's data to access the content?

That really depends on the quality of the stream, some SD streams could be 150Mb for a 42 min episode of a TV programme, others could be 250MB, a 720p stream could be about 500MB, while a 1080p stram of the same might be 1-1,2 GB.

I think the OP is entirely confused about steaming an already downloaded movie to Chromecast or chromecast streaming content from the web to itself.

A downloaded video should use zero internet bandwidth. All data transmission will be from phone to chrome cast directly.

what i mean is i use the data to download the film i dont really stream. I would download it somewhere else a friend or relative
