We are changing our windows to Alu Clad and thinking to go with Rationel windows. Can anyone advise if Rationel Alu Clad is a good quality window or is it better to go for Munster Joinery window it is PVC window with wood and aluminium cladding. It is working out to be the same price. We are changing our window cills to pressed aluminium. Please advise or PM with any comments

    are u going with EWI?
Why aluclad? Am not a fan in this damp climate, how exposed is the site?
However make the correct rational choice in any event

Yes, we are going with EWI. We like the Alu Clad windows, the look and feel of the window, whioch you cant get with PVC window. As per Rationel it should last for 85 years and they give 10 year warranty. The windows seems to be very well made. Our concern is would they last in our climate, ie the windows are expensive and you wouldn't like to change them again in 10 years time.

We are renovating the house, the house is covered by the trees and it is far enough from the water.

To Calahonda52, Do you have any experience with Rationel and their Windows. Really appreciate your advise

Jesus wept - not again :o. I’m curious what it is that you know that the BBA, BM TRADA, BSI (and a host of other EOTA bodies) don’t know about timber windows in general and alu-clad timber windows in particular?

Let's be crystal clear here: I said I was not a fan, nothing more, nothing less.

I have already written else here about the issues I have experienced with Alu clad in Oregon which has a very similar climate to parts of Ireland.

Remain curious as I am done with your insights and questions: don't bother responding as I won't be reading it.
    Good luck and keep well.
