Magic eye interference

Hi lads. Moved into a new house recently and brought my sky and booster box and magic eyes with me. Set them up the same as in my old house but on the tv up stairs every few minutes I get like a cracking interference sound and picture jumps. Any ideas what causes it or how to fix it lads?

It might be Lte/4G interference if the RF Output is above Ch60. Try changing it to a different freq below C60.

Or maybe it's clashing with a Saorview signal or something. Either way, try changing the output channel.

Will do that.. I assume I'll need to retune the tvs then? Will the picture quaility decrease as I adjust?

Finding a clear channel might involve a bit of trial and error.

AFaIK theres a "duplex gap" in the 4G band around Ch64/65 that might be usable in some areas ???

Are there multiple TVs connected, & only 1 is affected?

Also, those mentioning 4G or other co-channel interference should first have asked if there is an aerial connected to the Sky box.

Not that this kind of interference couldn't have an effect without one, but it would need to be on the strong side.

If it's an intermittent burst of noise, I'd be more inclined to think it's electrical interference from something nearby such as a fridge or heating pump switching on/off.

    Yes

got called out to exactly same issue the other day and found it was 4g interence do as advised change frequency away from 68 and retune tv and problem was solved.

    Yes

Right, if it's only 1 out of several TVs on the same system, you'd have to suspect it's a fault with the particular TV, or an interference-causing device is close to this TV, rather than the interference being picked up before the input to the amplifier.

Isn't channel 68 in the uplink part of the 800 MHz band? So I suppose the OP's suspect device could be something 4G, assuming it's using this band, & the Sky box is actually using a channel that falls in it.

Possibly should alright, but I did not deem it wholly necessary and no harm to take it away from C68 which it might be on if on default.

A simple task worth a try without any real upheaval.

Just stumbled across this thread and am going to try this solution. We have had a similar problem, intermittent loud crackling sound for maybe a few seconds or so on the upstairs tv when watching the through the magic eye.

Tried it on channel 65 and it seems to have cleared up... not sure what caused the interference tho.

As mentioned earlier possible 4G interference from a nearby 4G mast or co-channel Saorview interference, depends on the frequency used previously.

What channel was it tuned to before you changed it? If it was 68, then maybe 4G uplink.

It was on the default channel previously

Quick update... picture and sound MUCH better since the change and ZERO interference aswell

Good stuff was probably picking up 4g interference
