I'm after wasting money on these and raging because I can't find my receipt. Save your money and don't buy these. The needle nose curved pliers - one side of the tip is twice the size of the other, the side cutters "springing" mechanism doesn't work it just sticks shut, but best of all the round nose pliers the two tips don't even align up, it's as if they've been twisted completely sideways (I tried bending them straight) but no chance, they just spring back to being wonky. The only one out of the 4 that was semi-ok was the combination pliers. No wonder they hid the tips with the packaging!

This is the product in question - http://www.lidl.ie/en/Offers.htm?action=showDetail&id=51024

Sorry if this isn't the proper section to post this but I looked through all the topics and this seems most relevant.

TBF you're not going to get top quality tools for €1.75 each.

Well it's 3 pretty unusable tools. so 7 euro for a combination pliers that's as you say 1.75 quality

Ask if they will issue a credit note.

Would you have used a card to pay for it? Maybe that'd help as proof that you bought them.

I looked at these today, in fairness you could see the tips in the pack, and they looked shyte.

Bring them back, in the original pack and complain. It's not as if you could have bought them elsewhere!

The only ones I could see unfortunately with the packaging is actually the combo pliers (which was fine) and the snips which is a problem with the mechanism not shape.

I didn't buy them with a card unfortunately. I'll try bring them in anyway see if they will take them back. Might pick up another of those peg board sets or more squares if they're not all gone.

On a sort of half related note, I was thinking of picking up the vde screwdrivers, but I was wondering if there was any much benefit over the regular set of screwdrivers I have, given that I never work with electricity in the house without turning off the power first

They are 1000V rated, good for electricians or techs that will work on live panels.

I bought a set, they look fine but haven't used them yet.

If you are not planning to do electrical work, save your money.

If you are a pro, you will already have something better.

Thanks for that Steve, so no benefit for work like changing sockets, switches, light fittings etc

They will do fine for things like that, just don't attempt to do live work with them thinking you are safe.
It takes a lot of training and experience before you should even think of live work. :)

I got these if you don't really want to be spending much. I find just having the driver and another insert in my toolbag, 4 drivers but very little space used.
