I need to replace a 15 year old copper cylinder, current one has a lagging jacket. The immersion heater stopped working a few years ago.

I would like to get a more efficient tank, that at least stays hot until morning!!

    Any advice on

    a) type of cylinder
    b) how big a job is it to replace
    c) rough idea of cost/time it takes to complete job

    Thanks very much

I had my cylinder replaced last year. Cost me €490 ex vat.

Thanks for your reply, Effects. What did you get and are you happy with it? I should have said I have oil fired heating as well.

How big is the new cylinder (+number of heating coils) and what did it cost please?

It was the standard usual size. Sorry to generalise but I'm unsure of the size! I wired the element myself.
It has two coils. One for oil fired boiler and the other for an open fire back boiler.
My old one was leaking for years and it was time to change after multiple temp fixes with tek 7.
