I am writing this for a very close friend of mine who is a 24 year old girl who has a degree in social care. She spent her whole life since finishing secondary school studying social care and spent 4 years in university. Her passion is working with the homeless and people in need and has done this ever since she finished uni. Spent half a year in Uganda Africa helping people in need as its all she likes to do. She got herself into some trouble outside a bar a group of friends mostly males had a row with another group of males a fight broke out, she tried as girls do break everyone apart and there is cctv of the event. She gave a statement to gardai did nothing but help them in there enquiry. She has little recollection of the event as she was intoxicated. She was told she would not be in any trouble by gardai. Few months down the line she gets charged with section 2 assault and violent disorder. She had 2 court cases and it is now moved to the circuit court. Her and a few others are getting charged as a group. She is the most decent and compassionate girl i know. She is highly distraugt about everything. Everything she has worked to be could soon be nothing if she is convicted. She had the slightest bit of involvement in the event and i feel its very harsh her whole life ambitions gone with no sympathy from gardai siochana. Comes from a good family, never had a conviction. She is just very worried and depressed and i cant sit her and let this happen. I need help ! Her barrister and solicitor dont seem to care and say a conviction is inevitable but i dont think so !! Please some help or thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

She has a barrister and solicitor.

    Let them handle it.

If she's not happy with the barrister and solicitor get other barristers and solicitors.

I'm not sure what case law you could use. A S2 Assault can be something as innocuous as farting on someone.

Moderation: As per the charter, legal advice cannot be given. OP, your friend has professional legal representation that are far better placed to help her than any random person on the internet.
