Hey guys, myself and my boyfriend are planning to travel to puerto del carmen in lanzarote early july. i have been looking on websites like " click and go" etc. prices seem to be extremely high for flights and accom, i know it is mid season but does anybody have any advice on how i should go about booking? I originally wanted to pay the holiday off monthly but, if it means we can save money on saving up for a few weeks and pay straight up, id be up for that! We're looking to pay no more than €700 each on flights + accomodation. any advice would be very much appreciated. thanks in advance :)

It's worse than that! It's peak season.

How many of you are going? I'm presuming just a couple.

For a week in July you'd get HG Lomo Blanco for €600 and flights on Aer Lingus for €856. That's just a touch over your limit and based on Saturday - Saturday (1st to 8th). It'll be a little cheaper travelling midweek, travelling on the following Monday instead for a week and you'll get the flights for €643.

Lomo Blanco are good apartments (a colleague of mine raves about them, stays once or twice every year) and well located for both the old town and main resort areas. You'll find cheaper (I saw some for under €400 for the week)...

With all of this you'll end up paying for the flights straight up, but you can pay for accommodation on arrival usually by using the likes of Booking.com

As always, if you're reasonably competent and organised you'll save a fortune by cutting out the middleman, but that comes with its own risks if there are delays etc. Be sure to get travel insurance!

I booked in early July last year for PDC the first week in August, flights were under 300 each and we booked accommodation direct from the owner of the apt, there are plenty of sites owners can let out their apts, we paid under 1000 for flights and accommodation for both of us, so keep looking around !!

Thats brilliant. we are hoping to go around sunday 9th of july for 10 days. The apartments that are some what reasonably priced, are not ideal for us regarding air-con. Do you mind me asking which accomodation you opted for? and which sites you used? Just looking for recomendations thanks you :)

Try not to ever be going on holiday in July or August.
Its at least double the price of the months either side.
If you book accommodation and flights about 6 or 8 weeks before travel you will get the best deal.
Also try to be flexible with destination too.

Booked ours a month ago, and the flight prices have actually doubled since!

We are quite flexable, we have just loved the idea of PDC, unfortunatly, the only time i can take time off work this summer happens to be july :( went away in september lastyear and it was so much easier. If anybody has any other destinations they could recomend that would also be great! PDC is not set in stone. prices are crazy!

Aircon isn't really necessary. There's a nice breeze at night which helps keep everything cool and and the very least, most properties have fans which help with air circulation.

You could try direct booking with an owner. My friend has booked this in the past and was happy.
