Do you know which set (or even brand) you got for 100€?

Try pick up a set of Hyperx Cloud Stingers. Great set for about €60.

    It was a Sony set.

I'm guessing they're the "golden" headset - are you sure you set them up properly, they're supposed to be the dogs wotsits.

Nothing but positive reviews from boardsies.

The gold stereo headset has great in-game audio however the mic is terrible.

I recommend Turtle Beach headsets. They make great budget headsets.

    Turtle Beach Recon in Argos

Yes that was them. My niece apparently broke them. I've no idea he said he did set them up properly.

Yes this was his complaint his friends can't hear him and they kept saying he was laggy.

Here is the online instruction manual for the Gold headset.

    https://www.playstation.com/en-ie/content/dam/support/manuals/scee/web-manuals/peripherals/ps4/wireless-stereo-headset-20/instructions-manual/CECHYA-0083_Wirless%20Stereo%20Headset%202.0_InstructionManual_EN_Web.pdf/

I'd say he should reset the headset using the steps specified in the "Resetting the headset" section, just to see what happens before you move forward with buying a new one. Those Gold headsets seem to be quite good, so it'd be a shame if you went ahead and bought a new headset while it still could be fully functioning. It'd be good just to check anyway.

If that fails, have you thought about claiming the warranty on the product?

It seems to be the microphone is the issue his friends keep telling him they can't hear him. I've heard him in a party my boyfriend was listening to him chat with pals and he sounds miles away to be fair we could hear his pals very clearly but his voice was so faint. We hAve reset and set them again so to be fair I can see his point after hearing him his friends kept saying we can't hear you.

Ive the Golds, only bought them recently, had to do a bit of fiddling with the mic setting but he could be wearing them the wrong way round, the on/off switch is the left side, easily done as they are comfortable either way round..

Has he them on the right way around? Not being funny but that was an issue with one of the Sony sets?

This thread on the PlayStation Community forums attests to that alright.

One of the posters actually mentioned that they had the same issue with their Gold's and that plugging it into the PS4 controller (using the 3.5mm headphone jack that I imagine was included with the headset) actually fixed the issue. I know it's supposed to be a wireless headset, and therefore defeating the purpose, but it'd be interesting to see if it works anyway.

Yeah we went back to the shop with them and like that we've tried them every which way. He is shouting all the time with them and it sounds like a whisper they can't hear him and keep saying it so in a heated game I've told him if he keeps shouting at those levels he won't need any mic. I'll look at them again and go through the set up again.

When the headset is connected, hold the PS button in on the Pad until the menu pops up. You should see a Sound/Devices menu here. Go in there and you will see a Microphone level, increase that and see if it improves.

Also make sure that in the Sound settings on the PS4 that it's set to All Audio and not Chat Audio.

10/1 they are on backwards or the mic volume is turned down low.

I think a load of us on here bought them last year when they were on sale. Pretty good headphone for what you pay. (still miss my Trittons though)
