Id love to give shore fishing a shot as Ive never done it (and its been 15+ years since ive done any kind of fishing). I have a 13ft carp rod n ree, would that suffice or do I need to go buying gear?
Any tips, tricks, advice greatly appreciated

The carp rod will be perfect, use each lb of test curve as an indication of ounces for casting weight, 3lb rod is roughly 3oz casting weight, 2.5lb=2.5oz casting.
Give it a rinse after each use, the salt will corrode the fresh water fittings very quickly.

Spinning lures for pike do the trick for bass??

    Pretty much the same setup.

If your spinning your fine - if your looking to go bait fishing or going long cast over sand, dont even dream of using your freshwater gear with heavy weights - you will kill yourself or someone else!
