Myself and my wife flew from Vienna to Luton today with Easyjet. We had one checked on bag and two carry on bags. When we hot to the check-in desk in Vienna we were told that there was shortage of space for carry-on so we would have to check in the other two bags free of charge. After getting to Luton and getting our bags from the conveyor belt we were under pressure to catch another flight as the Vienna flight was delayed by two hours. While rushing to departures in Luton I noticed a tingling noise from one of the carry on bags, it turned out to be the zips were at the bottom of the case rattling along the floor, got to the gate for our next flight and checked the case and noticed it was interfered with. Opened it and found that my watch which was in a watch case was missing, also noticed that the tag that they put on it at check-in had been removed.
My wife has been onto Easyjet but they gave us a number to contact lost and found, which she will be doing in the morning once they open.

We had no insurance, I'm wondering will I get anywhere with them or what's the best way to go about this? Obviously I'm really pissed off about this.

You need to put in a claim with the airline.

Highly unlikely - Airlines have rules about what you can/cannot have in hold baggage and what you can claim for - jewelry comes into this category. You should have taken any valuables out of the carry on's that were being put in the hold.
