Hanging a chandaliere

Hi i have an old chandaliere that i want to hang.. Its not huge but there is a fair weight in it... Could someone please advise me about what an electrician would charge and do i need a special bracket or something to take the weight. Ie i don't want to pull the ceiling down. All help appreciated.
