Hello Boardsies, I just wrote out a long heartfelt message then lost it so this is round two. I have been reading this forum for years ( not just this one, I read many on Boards) But this one, I come to and read several times a day. I have come to know many of your names and many of your pets names and have grown very fond of some of them.

I have wanted to post many times but never did. I have cried and laughed and grieved alongside you (especially in the Departed Pets thread). I look at the Photos thread every day and watch out for photos of Ralph and Raven ( and the little one) Bailey and Lucy, and a user who has a little Westie named Georgie. Another user who has Jack and Hugo (my fave dogs of all time). And TinTin....he has stolen my heart. So many animals I have gotten fond of there. I love that thread so much.

I never even cared for Cats much till I came here, I was just indifferent to them, but this forum and the photos and posts here have totally changed my thinking. Some of them are just beautiful. I read almost all the threads about all animals. I see great advice from the likes of DBB and others and I have learned a lot.

I don't have a dog of my own now. I had them all my life but I am in rented accommodation and am afraid to get one as if I ever have to move...well many landlords won't take you of you have an animal. So I mind other peoples dogs instead:-)....Only one at a time as this is a small place but I cant work outside the home so I get to make a few quid and have a dog to love at the same time! Its not regular but I have my regulars ( if you know what I mean). I am very attached to them. I love them. They all have their little likes and dislikes and personalities just like us. The shy, timid ones get to my heart the most. I am home all day alone so when I have one, I love it, they are great company for me. Most dogs like to sleep on the end of my bed but one or two of my dogs ( and I know some of you will be horrified by this but...) they have a need to sleep right up alongside me , curled up near my tummy with their head near mine.....and I let them:-).....We are only here for a short time, their time is even shorter and it does something to my heart when they trust me enough to lay alongside me like that.

Anyway, sorry for rambling, I really just wanted to say Hi. I never had the courage to post here but I have a mad abiding love for dogs in my heart. They give my sometimes troubled heart peace. The most loving animals of all.

This forum is great. I have come to know many of you here though you don't know me. Finally, I just really want to say....Long live Tin Tin

    I hear ya!

I was a stalker for a while before I ever posted either!
It's amazing that you can get such quality advice on anything pet related for free! I thought I knew loads before I joined but you learn so much here.

It's funny how into other people's dogs and stories you can get, without ever having met them. At the moment, I just love jellybears Milo. I want a carbon copy of him for myself! I saw jellys name on departed pets yesterday. I went in with my heart in my mouth. She was just commiserating with other posters. The relief!

    Ps. Long live Tin Tin!

Great thread, I was a lurker too, living vicariously through others and their dogs, while I was away from home and without a dog!

Thank you so much for your lovely words. Long live the Tintin indeed.. getting close to 15 and a half now and still going as strong as you would expect for an elderly gent with heart and kidney failure. As long as he gets his rest and grub as well, he is happy and content. Love hearing updates on all the other furry friends here too.

Whenever I glance over my shoulder the Tintin is there looking up at me, hopefully for another while yet.

Thankyou gifted. I am a quiet sort of person so have been embarrassed that I wrote it even though I meant every word.

Capercaillie, that second photo of you with TinTin is beautiful. I hope he lives for a long time yet. I will sincerely shed a tear when he goes. I love to come here and still see him soldiering on. Lovely little dog. I have a real love for Old People with all their history and life stories. When I see an older dog and look in their eyes, its like you see years and years of trust and loyalty. I really believe, they deserve to be well looked after for that. I hope I see many more pics of TinTin with his birthday cakes:-)

What a lovely thing to read. I asked the boys for a comment... But as we spent the morning out in UL, they're a little tired!

    Beautiful first post in A&PI

You know, all too often, being on the other side of a keyboard makes people too brave, too rude, too confrontational. I'm guilty of it myself at times:o
How refreshing it is to know there is someone out there who's the exact opposite, and what a lovely first post it is too :)
Don't feel too shy to post, if you've got any photos of pets you've had before that you'd like to post, PM me and I'll post them for you ;) (until your post count is high enough to post your own!).
This forum comes in for some flack from time to time from people who don't feel the same way about pets as we do, but you know what? Your post has renewed my faith in the fantastically pet-mad people who use this forum ;)
    Thank you Saoirse1981!

Hooked, I have written my reply to you twice then lost it, so frustrating as I was on a roll and all in my feelings :-)....So hopefully third time lucky here.

I am so delighted you replied to my post, I can't even tell you! Way back when you first posted them early photos of Jack and Hugo (the black and white ones) I shamelessly 'stole' them. I would never repost them anywhere, I just wanted to keep them for myself. I will tell you why...

My favourite animal is the wolf, the fact he is the outsider, the rebel, the unfairly demonised. Since I was young I always loved the husky dog as I felt he looked closest to the wolf. There are many kinds and types and breeds of huskies as I am sure you know but I have loved them all for life. Dogs go through popularity like in fashion, and I know 'Huskies' became fashionable here only to end up in dogs homes all over this island when folk realised they were more than just beautiful to look at.

Anyway, many many years ago (like hella years ago) loooong before anyone cared about them, I went to buy one of my own with a whole heap of money.....When I got to the breeders house though, I saw this little white ball in the corner. She said it was a dog no one wanted, and so I came home with a snow white Japanese Akita instead of my husky :-)

I always said I would go to a dogs home and take in an unwanted animal when I got my next dog but I am the kind who would go in with a cute thing in mind then feel sorry for the three legged, one eyed dog no one wants because my heart is a hape of shoite.

And so, I came home with my unwanted Akita and he was a great dog. I still love and miss him today ( he is gone now) but I never lost my love of any type of Husky. Your two are fine fine examples of the breed and obviously well loved and looked after. I am sooo delighted you posted a new photo of them ( I look out for you posting pics of them and you never post enough).

I still hope I will have my own one day. They are a beautiful dog with a noble history. Until then. I will enjoy the pics of yours. Thankyou once again for replying to my post. You have made my day!

DBB. Thankyou so much for your reply.

I know you are a Moderator here and could have told me off for replying to people individually. I know I am supposed to Multi quote but I am new to posting to a forum and can't work out how to do it right. I will get it eventually though, and I am sorry for multi posting, but I really wanted to acknowledge all those kind enough to reply to me. Thankyou for being tolerant of that:-)

In response to your own post to me. I read here every day as I said before, and even as someone who is well experienced with dogs, I find some of your advice invaluable. You are a wealth of knowledge. I cannot stress enough how much I love this forum and I speak as someone who reads many forums here on many subjects.

I am what would be called an eccentric I suppose. I find it hard to speak socially to folk, I put on a cheery facade but I suffer from social anxiety and only really reveal myself when I write...hence my hella long posts here :-)... After a few glasses of the happy stuff I write even better ( or reveal myself better). People dont often understand people like me. Dogs, they love me though because I love them.

I have one or two I mind who are so very nervous around strangers, when they first come to me and their heads are down so nervous and shy, my heart goes straight to them. When their owner comes to get them and sees them sitting comfortably and at ease on my sofa....that makes my heart feel a whole heap of good. These are animals who save lives every day, who help the blind and will go to any length of loyalty for us. It makes my heart rage and break to see them not treated right.

Even when I am irritated or not in the best of moods, even when they annoy me....if I look and catch their eyes, the deep way they look up at us so innocent, unaware of why we are annoyed at them....I totally feel guilty and give in and end up saying "Oh come on then, come here and then I love them to death again. I never trust anyone a dog doesnt like. :-)

Anyway, rambling again. Sorry. Thanks DBB. I still read and dont post then get mad spurts and post all at once like now...I will probably always do it that way, but I am here everyday. I love this forum. I really love it.
